Overview of the Faculty of Human Studies, Seisen Jogakuin College

In the Faculty of Human Studies, educational activities revolve around our three educational objectives – Educating the Whole Person, Developing a Community Spirit, and Working within the Community.
The curriculum of the Faculty of Human Studies is organized into a general education strand common to all courses, and specialized fields for each of the three courses.
Classes within each specialized field are further divided into introductory and advanced classes.


Psychology Course

In the introductory classes, students learn the research methodology for analyzing the human mind and behavior. More advanced classes are divided into 5 different areas: ‘Social Psychology’,‘School and Developmental Psychology’, ‘Clinical Psychology’, ‘Seminar - Practicum’, ‘Seminar – Practical Application of Psychology’. In the Psychology Course, students can gain a broad knowledge of psychology as well as obtaining a Certified Psychologist certificate.

English Communication Course

In the English Communication Course, students can focus on developing practical communication skills and / or teacher education.
Communication majors are expected to acquire an understanding and appreciation of literature and culture, and the ability to communicate in everyday Business and Tourism contexts.
English Education majors will acquire a knowledge of general educational theory and EFL Teaching Methodology in order to obtain a English teacher’s license.

Contemporary Communication Course (Modern Media)

Through its roots in the local community, the Contemporary Communication Course nurtures autonomous women who can creatively communicate with people around the world. In the first-year general education classes, students develop the basic ability to disseminate information through modern media. In second- to fourth-year classes, students acquire the ability to communicate both information and culture to the local community and people throughout the world through practical projects using visual art and social media in joint venture with local business and community.
